Old Website

This Is Our New Website

Webmaster 30/08/2018 What's On

Goodbye Joomla, hello WordPress

For years, we host our website at The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ)  which used the Joomla platform to manage our website. URJ no longer supports Joomla by the end of August and offered their associated congregations a migration to WordPress – another and very popular content management platform.

The migration was an  opportunity for us to overhaul the design and contents of our website. Remember our old website? With this website, for example, we have a blog roll with regular news and a new theme with an Agudas Achim color palette.

However, the end of support of our previous Joomla-based website came in a period where we are all pressed for time: summer break and the High Holidays preparations. Obviously, we have not completed the website renovations and yet, we decided to go live while still renovating the website.

Regular Changes

So in the next couple of months until the end of the year, expect regular changes. We plan to renovate the navigation menu, rewrite large portions of the articles and write news ones, optimize the workflow, we may introduce some new widgets and will implement many suggestions and feedback we received in workshops we ran last year.

Enjoy the new website and stay tuned for news.

As the leadership of the synagogue is strategizing over long-term security questions, we have committed to have police security for the short-term this Shabbat.
